Early lead
The 1,400 spectators in Soltau's Hindenburg-Stadion knew they were in for a lively match. From the first minute it was clear that Tayfun Korkut's side were there to win. Jimmy Briand put Hannover 96 after seven minutes before doubling the lead seven minutes later. The home team were unable to take advantage of the few chances they created, with Timo Königsmann putting on a strong performance in goal for the Reds. Hiroshi Kiyotake made it 3-0 after 17 minutes, before Briand completed his hat-trick in the 22nd minute after good work from Jan Schlaudraff. Goals from Sebastian Ernst (35') and Briand again (36') made the half-time score 6-0 to the visitors. 

Biggest win of the season
Korkut made seven changes to his side at half-time but the performance levels didn't drop. Three minutes after coming on Mike-Steven Bähre made it 7-0. Further goals from Jimmy Briand (52' and 68') and Tim Dierßen (60' and 61') extended the score. 17 minutes before the end new signing Stefan Thesker headed in Tim Dierßen's cross to make it 12-0. The scoring was completed thanks to a brace from half-time substitute Valmir Sulejmani (75' and 86'). The 14-0 victory was Hannover's biggest of the season. "We took the game seriously" said Korkut after the full-time whistle.
