NIEMALSALLEIN

What a week for Robert Enke! First he was called up by Jogi Löw for the Germany squad, then he received the adulation of the Reds fans in the AWD-Arena after the last game of the season, and to crown it all he has now been names "Man of the Year" for 2007/2008! Congratulations Robert!

Never in doubt
If you have been following the competition throughout the season you’ll know that Robert Enke’s win has been a nailed on certainty for quite some time. Our goalkeeper has been voted man of the match 12 times - recognition of his consistently outstanding performances - meaning he ended the season with an insurmountable 59 points.

Leader at the back
As the last line of defence for the Reds, Robert often found himself with the unenviable task of trying to keep 96 in games. But not only did he do this and do it well, he was also a key motivator in the Hannover side, being loud when he needed to be and a calming presence when it was required. There is no question that Robert has become one of Hannover 96's most important players.

To Euro 2008
We’re not just looking at Enke through rose-tinted spectacles either: his inclusion in Germany’s squad for Euro 2008 is testimony to his fantastic ability and hard-work, as was his selection as “best goalkeeper since Christmas” by his Bundesliga colleagues.

Nippy midfielder second
Szabolcs Huszti takes second place, finishing the season on 34 points . “Szabi” picked up five man of the match awards in 2007/2008, scoring ten goals and creating six assists. But arguably it is his tireless work in midfield that has endeared him to the fans and secured his second place finish.

Jiiiiiiiiriiiiiiii comes third
Jiri Stajner, the cult Reds striker, had one more great game at the end of the season to sneak into third place. The crowd favourite picked up 21 points over the course of the season thanks to his six goals and two assists. In doing so he picked up a new record, with four of his five man of the match awards coming in consecutive games.

The end of season standings:

1. Robert Enke 59
2. Szabolcs Huszti 34
3. Jiri Stajner 21

How it was decided
There was the chance to vote for man of the match after every Hannover game on our homepage. Every man of the match award scored a player three points, second place got two and third place one. The competition will, of course, continue next year! Robert Enke will be presented with his “Man of the Year” award before the first home game next season.
